In an effort to enhance the quality of education through the use of modern technologies, Edify Uganda recently held a key engagement with the staff at Banda Redstar Nursery and Primary School, located in Wakiso. The training session was conducted under the EdifyEdTech Program, in collaboration with Sharebility Uganda, a local partner renowned for its expertise in innovative education solutions.
This session primarily focused on empowering teachers to effectively incorporate Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in teaching, learning, and school administration. The goal is to ensure that educators at Banda Redstar, as well as other Christ-centered schools, have the skills and tools necessary to provide relevant, high-quality education to the next generation.
Preparing Teachers for the Digital Age
The use of ICTs in education is no longer an option but a necessity. During the engagement, facilitators emphasized how digital tools, when effectively used, can revolutionize the teaching and learning process. The teachers were introduced to a variety of technologies, including interactive educational platforms, digital lesson planning tools, and methods for using computers and tablets in the classroom.
The training also focused on enhancing teachers’ administrative capabilities. School leaders were shown how to manage records, track student performance, and improve communication within the school community using digital tools. These skills are essential for improving both the efficiency and effectiveness of school administration.
Skilling Teachers to Stay Relevant
As part of the engagement, the teachers were encouraged to continuously seek new skills to remain relevant in a fast-evolving educational landscape. The facilitators from Edify Uganda highlighted how technological advancements are reshaping the global workforce and how teachers must adapt to ensure that students are prepared for a digital future.
The EdifyEdTech Program equips teachers with the knowledge to integrate ICT into their teaching methodologies. This includes understanding how to use ICT tools to create engaging lessons, assess students more effectively, and foster collaboration both inside and outside the classroom. By embracing these tools, teachers at Banda Redstar can enhance student engagement and improve learning outcomes.
A Broader Impact on the Community
The ICT engagement is part of Edify Uganda’s broader mission to empower education entrepreneurs by offering them access to essential resources. By providing training, loan capital, and education technology, Edify supports these entrepreneurs in building sustainable schools that will serve their communities for years to come.
At Banda Redstar Nursery and Primary School, the integration of ICT in teaching and school administration promises to make learning more engaging and accessible. As these technologies become more widely used, they will help bridge the digital divide, enabling students from all backgrounds to benefit from a high-quality education.
This session also fits within Edify’s larger vision of building long-term sustainability in education. By training teachers to harness the potential of ICTs, Edify ensures that Christ-centered schools like Banda Redstar not only survive but thrive in today’s digital world.
