In a dynamic push towards modernizing education, teachers at Tenacity Nursery & Primary School in Mpigi District engaged in a minds-on session today, exploring how to effectively integrate ICTs into their teaching before, during, and after class. The group presentations were part of the ongoing EdifyEdTech Program, facilitated by Sharebility Uganda and aimed at equipping educators with the tools and knowledge to leverage technology in their daily teaching practices.
This training at Tenacity Nursery & Primary School was just one of five concurrent EdifyEdTech sessions happening across schools in Uganda today, all focused on transforming how teachers approach education in the digital era. The facilitators, stationed in these schools, are working tirelessly to guide teachers through the intricacies of integrating ICT into their classrooms and school administration.
A Focus on ICT Integration Before, During, and After Teaching
The session at Tenacity Nursery & Primary School saw teachers actively participating in group presentations, brainstorming and sharing ideas on how ICT can enhance every stage of teaching. From lesson planning and resource creation to interactive teaching methods and post-class assessments, the teachers were guided on how to incorporate technology to make their work more efficient and impactful.
During the before teaching phase, the focus was on using digital tools for lesson preparation. Teachers explored platforms that help streamline lesson planning, offer access to digital resources, and enable collaboration with colleagues. These tools are designed to save time while also providing innovative content ideas that cater to different learning styles.
In the during teaching phase, the emphasis was on engaging students through multimedia presentations, digital interactive lessons, and using educational platforms that allow for real-time feedback and collaboration. ICT can make lessons more dynamic, ensuring that students stay engaged and participate actively in their learning process.
Finally, for the after teaching phase, the facilitators showcased how ICT tools can simplify the process of grading, tracking student progress, and providing feedback. Teachers learned how to use data analytics to assess student performance and identify areas where additional support may be needed, ultimately helping them tailor their instruction to meet individual student needs.
Empowering Teachers Through Hands-On Training
What makes the EdifyEdTech training sessions unique is the hands-on approach taken by Sharebility Uganda facilitators. At Tenacity Nursery & Primary School, teachers are not just passively learning about technology; they are actively experimenting with various ICT tools and strategies that they can immediately apply in their classrooms.
By providing practical, real-world applications of technology in education, the facilitators ensure that teachers feel confident and capable of incorporating these tools into their teaching practices. This approach is essential to ensure long-term adoption and success in using ICT to enhance the quality of education.
Concurrent Training Across Five Schools
Today’s training at Tenacity Nursery & Primary School is just one part of a larger effort by Edify Uganda and Sharebility Uganda to transform education across the country. Facilitators are conducting concurrent EdifyEdTech sessions in five schools, ensuring that the movement towards digital integration is widespread and impactful.
The schools involved in today’s training are benefiting from the experience and expertise of facilitators who are passionate about empowering teachers with the tools they need to succeed in the 21st-century classroom. By reaching multiple schools simultaneously, Edify Uganda is ensuring that no teacher or student is left behind in the journey toward embracing technology in education.
A New Path Forward for Ugandan Schools
The EdifyEdTech Program is not just about introducing technology into classrooms—it’s about transforming how teachers approach their profession and how students engage with learning. By focusing on all aspects of teaching—before, during, and after class—the program provides teachers with a holistic understanding of how ICT can enhance their roles and create a more dynamic, interactive, and efficient learning environment.
The ongoing training at Tenacity Nursery & Primary School, along with the other four schools, is part of Edify Uganda’s commitment to building a future where technology and education go hand in hand. As more schools across Uganda embrace ICT, the quality of education will continue to improve, ensuring that both teachers and students are prepared to thrive in the digital age.
